SUMMARY:Neurofeedback Clinic of Northern Colorado (Private Training)
DESCRIPTION:This is a full day private training for clinicians focusing on Synergetic Play Therapy and Attachment through the use of the Sand Tray\, presented by Judith Norman.  \nSPT and Attachment Through Expressive Arts \nIn this experiential training\, we’ll explore how Synergetic Play Therapy principles help us understand attachment through a new lens. We’ll look at how attunement\, resonance\, and regulation shape the therapeutic relationship\, and how expressive arts can reveal a client’s internal states in ways that words often cannot. \nWe’ll look at how attunement\, resonance\, and regulation shape the therapeutic relationship\, and how expressive arts can reveal a client’s internal states in ways that words often cannot. \nParticipants will learn how dysregulation shows up in art\, how to track their own regulation while facilitating\, and how to serve as an external regulator during creative processes. The training includes live demonstrations and guided dyad work using simple art materials. \nThis workshop is appropriate for therapists working with children\, teens\, and adults. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nUnderstand the importance of attunement and emotional congruency when facilitating a client in a therapeutic process.\nRecognize the resonance occurring during sessions and describe its role in helping the therapist attune to clients.\nIdentify the relationship between arousal states and attachment styles.\nExplain the concept of attachment to self and apply this lens to understanding and addressing attachment ruptures.\\nIdentify the ways dysregulation presents in expressive arts and recognize how these presentations reflect underlying nervous system states.\nPractice ways a therapist can develop the capacity to serve as an external regulator while clients engage in play and expressive arts.

SUMMARY:They Whispered\, So I Roared: The Art of Expanding Without Permission and Moving with Resilience (In-Person Keynote)
DESCRIPTION:Join Lisa for the 8th Annual Sandtray Summit 2026 in Louisville\, Kentucky on April 25-26\, 2026. She will be keynoting with a 2-hour session on They Whispered\, So I Roared: The Art of Expanding Without Permission and Moving with Resilience. \nThere comes a moment when the quiet voice inside us grows louder than the world’s expectations — when we can no longer shrink to fit within the boundaries that once felt safe. They Whispered\, So I Roared is an exploration of what it means to expand beyond permission\, to rewrite the narratives that keep us small\, and to move through change with resilience and grace. \nWe live in a world that often rewards conformity\, obedience\, and silence. Paradigms — those invisible belief systems shaped by culture\, upbringing\, and fear — tell us who we should be and how we should move. They keep us contained\, comfortable\, and compliant. But every breakthrough\, every act of innovation and personal evolution\, begins with someone who dares to step outside the lines. \nIn this keynote\, we’ll explore how to recognize the paradigms that confine us — and how to transcend them without apology. Through reflection\, curiosity\, and courageous action\, we’ll uncover how to: \n\nReclaim your voice and stand in your truth\, even when the world expects your silence.\nTransform resistance into resilience\, using challenge as fuel for growth.\nExpand your boundaries by questioning assumptions and embracing discomfort as a gateway to possibility.\nMove with intention and authenticity\, crafting a life that reflects your deepest values rather than inherited beliefs.\n\nThis isn’t just about breaking free — it’s about breaking open: expanding into your full capacity for creativity\, innovation\, and fulfillment. \nBecause when we stop waiting for permission to evolve\, we become living examples of what’s possible. \nWhen we roar\, we remind others they can too. \nGet all the details here!

SUMMARY:Webinar: AI\, Discernment\, and Responsible Use in the Helping Professions
DESCRIPTION:AI chat boxes are increasingly used by clients\, patients\, and the public for emotional\, medical\, legal\, and relational guidance. As these tools begin to function as informal advisors\, helping professionals must understand both their capabilities and their limits. Join Lisa for a 1.5 hour webinar with MasterWord on AI\, Discernment\, and Responsible Use in the Helping Professions. \nThis session examines how AI systems are trained\, where they can be useful\, where risks emerge\, and how professionals can respond thoughtfully and ethically. Topics include misinformation\, narrative amplification\, cultural fit\, privacy considerations\, crisis limitations\, and the role of human judgment and relational presence. \n\nIdentify common ways individuals use AI chatbots and generative AI tools for emotional support\, reflection\, and decision-making.\nDescribe key limitations and risks associated with using AI for emotional or psychological guidance\, including misinformation\, narrative amplification\, cultural bias\, and privacy concerns.\nExplain the differences between AI-generated responses and human relational processes such as attunement\, nervous system regulation\, and trauma integration.\nEvaluate when AI-generated guidance may be useful and when human judgment\, relationship\, and professional support are essential.\n\nThe goal is not to dismiss AI\, but to clarify its appropriate use within professional practice and to strengthen discernment in an evolving technological landscape. \n*NBCC credit is available for this webinar.  \n

SUMMARY:Echoes of Wisdom: Las Vegas Play Therapy (In-Person Symposium)
DESCRIPTION:As therapists\, we are aware of the impact of the intergenerational transmission of unprocessed trauma. We feel this in our clients’ stories. We sense this in our own bodies. More and more attention needs to be given to this evolving area of study and practice\, but we can also hold these concepts in balance with another intergenerational patterns. Wisdom and strength are also gifts handed from generation to generation. How do we honor clients’ intergenerational pain without overlooking their resilience? How do we explore generational wisdom without minimizing people’s struggles? \nJoin us in Las Vegas May 14-17\, 2026 as we explore the Wisdom of our ancestors\, the Wisdom of our Mentors and Teachers\, the Wisdom in our bodies and the Wisdom of those who trust us with their healing as we move forward into our futures. Lisa Dion and Mili Shoemaker\, Certified Synergetic Play Therapists\, Supervisor\, and Teacher-in-Training\, will be featured speakers on Saturday\, May 16th.  \nGet all registration details and register here.

SUMMARY:Aggression in Play Therapy: A Synergetic Approach for Integrating Intensity (2-Day Keynote)
DESCRIPTION:Join Lisa for the Indiana Association for Play Therapy’s 2-day conference June 25-26\, 2026. She’ll be presenting on Aggression in Play Therapy: A Synergetic Approach for Integrating Intensity \nAlthough aggression and death are a common part of the play therapy process\, many therapists don’t have a clear understanding of what to do and how to facilitate the intensity when it enters the playroom during play. The result can lead to inadvertently promoting aggression and increasing low brain disorganization. It can also lead to the therapist feeling beat up\, exhausted and hyper-aroused themselves\, which can over time significantly impact their longevity in the field\, as well as their ability to stay attuned and present to a child in the play room. \nThis workshop is designed to help play therapists understand aggression and death play from a neuro-biological perspective and a Synergetic Play Therapy lens. With the help of neuroscience and interpersonal neurobiology\, therapists will learn how to effectively work with this type of play in a way that supports nervous system regulation\, repatterning of the child’s autonomic activation patterns and decreases compassion fatigue and vicarious trauma. \nThis workshop will take therapists to new possibilities as they explore a science based process for working with children at the deepest\, most profound levels while staying safe and sane. They will learn how to make aggressive play therapeutic while understanding what it takes to maximize growth and integration for their clients and themselves. \nVisit the Indiana APT’s website for registration details. \n

SUMMARY:International Conference Play is the Future 2026 (Italy)
DESCRIPTION:Join Lisa for the International Conference: Play is the Future in Chiavenna\, Italy\, July 2-4\, 2026. She will be presenting alongside several other amazing play therapists.  \nLisa will be presenting on The Inner World of the Therapist: A Synergetic Foundation for Play Therapy and Psychosocial Work. \nThis experiential workshop explores the inner world of the therapist as a foundational and practical element of effective play therapy and psychosocial work across diverse environments. Grounded in the principles of Synergetic Play Therapy\, the session invites participants to examine how a practitioner’s internal state—emotional awareness\, nervous system regulation\, and authenticity—directly influences their capacity to connect with others. This capacity for connection is presented as the essential gateway through which attunement and creative responsiveness emerge\, particularly in settings that extend beyond the traditional playroom\, including crisis response\, medical and healthcare contexts\, educational environments\, and work with families. Through guided reflection\, gentle experiential exercises\, and clinical examples drawn from real-world practice\, participants will gain insight into how cultivating internal awareness supports meaningful connection\, allowing attunement and creativity to naturally unfold within play-based and psychosocial interventions across settings. \nGet all the details here.
