Neurofeedback Clinic of Northern Colorado (Private Training)

April 24 @ 9:00 am - 4:30 pm MDT

This is a full day private training for clinicians focusing on Synergetic Play Therapy and Attachment through the use of the Sand Tray, presented by Judith Norman.

SPT and Attachment Through Expressive Arts

In this experiential training, we’ll explore how Synergetic Play Therapy principles help us understand attachment through a new lens. We’ll look at how attunement, resonance, and regulation shape the therapeutic relationship, and how expressive arts can reveal a client’s internal states in ways that words often cannot.

We’ll look at how attunement, resonance, and regulation shape the therapeutic relationship, and how expressive arts can reveal a client’s internal states in ways that words often cannot.

Participants will learn how dysregulation shows up in art, how to track their own regulation while facilitating, and how to serve as an external regulator during creative processes. The training includes live demonstrations and guided dyad work using simple art materials.

This workshop is appropriate for therapists working with children, teens, and adults.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the importance of attunement and emotional congruency when facilitating a client in a therapeutic process.
  • Recognize the resonance occurring during sessions and describe its role in helping the therapist attune to clients.
  • Identify the relationship between arousal states and attachment styles.
  • Explain the concept of attachment to self and apply this lens to understanding and addressing attachment ruptures.\
  • Identify the ways dysregulation presents in expressive arts and recognize how these presentations reflect underlying nervous system states.
  • Practice ways a therapist can develop the capacity to serve as an external regulator while clients engage in play and expressive arts.
