Project 1: Qualitative Findings of Synergetic Play Therapists’ Experiences of Compassion Fatigue

A report on compassion fatigue is in the final stages before it is submitted for peer-review publication.  This qualitative study interviewed SPT therapists to examine the role of SPT in compassion fatigue.  Stay tuned to learn more about the findings of this study!  (Hint: SPT helps combat compassion fatigue).

Project 2:  Pre and Post Therapy Evaluations of Synergetic Play Therapy

60 Synergetic Play Therapists are in the process of collecting Pre and Post Therapy outcomes through the use of the Pediatric Symptom Checklist (PSC).  The PSC is an empirically validated psychosocial screen designed to facilitate the recognition of cognitive, emotional, and behavioral problems.  It is a parent report and can be easily administered and scored.  The study has been approved by an IRB (Institutional Review Board) and data collection is underway.  This study will span a 9 month time period.

Project 3:  An Examination of Child-Centered Play Therapy and Synergetic Play Therapy

Bethany J. Townsend from the University of Wyoming is in the final stages of this paper looking at the similarities and differences between Child-Centered Play Therapy and Synergetic Play Therapy
