The Mayor’s Office of Education and Youth Engagement has partnered with Synergetic Education and Play Therapy Institutes to host a FREE and VIRTUAL youth mental health series which includes the following workshops:

Preparing students’ brains and bodies to learn in the classroom

Thursday, March 27th 12pm – 1pm CT (for Adults ONLY)

DESCRIPTION: Even the most skilled professionals sometimes need assistance when students are not ready to learn, and behavior is impacting the classroom. What if the key to this challenge is helping students’ brains and bodies prepare for learning? By understanding the science behind behavior, we can use the mechanisms already in play to effectively shift behaviors. Let’s explore how even the most challenging behaviors can serve as a roadmap, revealing what is happening and what actions can help us return to an environment where students are ready to learn.

Balancing student and adult wellness

Thursday, April 24th, 12pm – 1pm CT (for Adults ONLY)

DESCRIPTION: The constant pressure on educators to do more can lead to feelings of stress and fatigue. It’s essential to learn how to implement positive changes in student behavior while also supporting educators’ well-being. This has been a zero-sum game for far too long; we shouldn’t have to choose between the needs of students and the health of educators. Both are crucial for a thriving educational environment. Join us as we examine how prevalent misconceptions in education are obstructing our ability to model healthy behaviors for students and contributing to educator burnout!
